Born: Nov 1906
Died: Sept 1979 Aged 72
Married: Gwladys Davies
The first son of William and Phoebe James (third child of ten). He passed the scholarship (without coaching!) to Pontardawe Grammer School. He was very proud of the fact that the person sitting next to him in class turned out to be Professor T.J. Morgan (Rhodri Morgan MP's Father). Brynmor left school at fifteen against his father's wishes, so that he could earn some money and help with the upkeep of the family. He went to work in the tinplate works in Pontardawe.
When he was a young man he witnessed a terrible accident at work, one of the older men fell into the furnace fire and burnt to death.
When the tinplate works closed in Pontardawe (in the sixties?) Bryn went to work in the new tinplate works at Trostre Llanelli, travelling a tedious journey on three different buses.
Later he bought a motorbike, travelling through all sorts of terrible weather conditions across the common from Morriston to Trostre Llanelli in the time before the motorway was built.
This certainly did not help his health as very often he would arrive home drenched to the skin, perhaps the motorbike having broken down on the way home.
In his mid-fifties the first signs of Parkinsons disease began to appear. Having been such an active man all his life and giving a helping hand to others it was indeed a shock to us all! Not once did he complain of his 'misfortune'.
