William Henry Bytheway b. 20 July 1833 in Dudley, Worcestershire. Christened 25 August 1833 at Dudley St Thomas, Worcestershire, England. d. sometime after 1901. Married Fannie Cotterell on the 2 August 1862 at The Baptist Chapel, Goodall Street, Walsall, Staffordshire, England.

Lived throughout his life in the Warwickshire/Staffordshire areas of central England.

Third son of Joseph. A banker, well featured: Employed in early Midland Bank. Mild and gentle but occasionally intolerant. Lived and slept above Bank Office, at one point sleeping with a pistol beneath his pillow at night to scare away any likely bandits by challenging such through his suprising bedroom trap door.

He was well liked and loved but being more artistic than businesslike caused him to be moved from branch to branch of the bank so disrupting his family life somewhat. His great hobby was wood carving, including fretwork: at 'Leysdown', Four Oaks, his workshop was situated under an apple tree at the bottom of a long garden - a memory of Jack 1912 aged 10 years. An excellent carver and fretworker. He could never understand illness.

1881 census: Bank manager 30 Market Place, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Shows 2 servants Margaret Jones age 22 cook, Jane Galleridge age 18 housemaid

RG13 2809 188 1 4 shows him living at 7 Trafalgar Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham. and strangely occupation now Bank Cashier.
